Family Affair: Celtic Festival

I have been meaning to blog about our weekend...all week! Between travis having the card reader for the memory card and dealing with a sick baby, the days slipped between my fingers.

Me and my lovies hit up the Celtic Festival last Sunday and it was a BLAST! The music was amazing. I stumbled across this gem on austin360.com when looking for a renaissance festival a few weeks ago. If you haven't gone, I recommend going...if you're willing to shell out some dough...this is NOT a cheap outing.

Here are some pics from the day:

aww the hubs :)

I felt so bad for this horse :( looked so sad....

They had a few baby events going on but we only checked out a few of them...not quite sure what this was...

The funniest thing was people take this stuff SERIOUSLY. Kilts, hats, everyone in head to toe plaid...but the woman who kept her baby in the basket takes the cake (you're not fooling me with your modern "Born Free" bottle lady!)

The fight scenes were the best part, so funny!

Amelia enjoying the fighting!

Ha, Travis kept putting his hat on her..her face reads "Seriously dad? I thought we've been over this. Stop"

The best and worst part of the day...

Travis did the archery! He was actually really good and hit the bulls eye multiple times...winning a rock HAHAH!

That pretty much sums up the day! If you haven't been, here are some pro's and con's:

Pro's:
-Fun
-Good music
-Occupied about 3 hours of a lazy Sunday
-If you are a "people watcher" this is a MUST
-Fun souvenirs
-Good beer and food
-Free parking

Con's:
-Uh...we can start by it costing $15 a person to get in. I was frustrated from the start.
-No pets allowed (for the pet lovers out there...hi, this is Austin!)
-Everything was SO pricey. Those onions were $8 and the lemonade was $5
-Awkward run in with high school prom date (ok, that was just me)

Over all, like I said before, very fun and different but only if you are willing to shell out some cash. We spent about $80 total...not too shabby if we wouldn't have gone out Friday night and spent about the same at one bar (I suppose that was our fault hah) so we had an expensive weekend!

Oh!! I updated my header :) like it?? I worked a little photoshop magic and put it together, but not quite sure what I think yet....

Have YOU been to Celtic Festival? Are there any other festivals coming up that you know about!?

Tea and Crumpets!

January is coming WAY too fast...which means my sweetness is almost ONE ALREADY!?@#?!L;ASKLDFJASD;L JF

^^^ I literally start freaking out when I think about it. Not only did the time go blazing by, but it is a rude awakening of the happenings that are just around the corner: walking, potty training, time outs and then more baby making (we'll see about that last one).

Before all of those things, I am going to try and master throwing an amazing birthday bash! Because her special day is smack dab in the middle of winter, the obvious easy bbq is a no go. Our families always gather on Sundays so having a Sunday birthday party just seemed right. After much deliberation, I am finally going to live out my own fantasy and throw a killer MAD HATTERS TEA PARTY!
This is the "save the date" I sent out through e-mail to my family. We want everyone to be there so I wanted everyone to pencil it in their calendars...especially family that lives far away!

I am so excited...not only for the party and celebrations but all the crafting thats going to be involved since I plan on making most everything myself.

For feasting I am thinking brunchy items, tea sandwiches, chilled soup, cupcakes, scones and cookies.

Drinks will include a tea bar, cucumber water, and mimosa's.

For decorations I am thinking tons of fresh flowers, mix&match tea cups and tea pots, doilies, and I am thinking I am going to go with purples, gray and pinks for the colors! (Goodwill will be my new weekly hangout).

I know this seems far away but I feel like if I am going to have handmade invitations  and favors, I better get a move on! I will keep you up to date on all the crafts and ideas I have ;)

What did YOU do for your child's first birthday?? Do you have any ideas for the tea party?!

HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY!

Halloweeny 2k11

First and foremost, I will NOT let Kim Kardashian overshadow this blog post bahaha. I will however let you know that I joined twitter just to follow all her divorce mess and every real housewife- I am disgusted with myself, trust me...

I can't believe it is already November!!! WHAT?!
What I can't believe more is that Amelia's first Halloween came and went already :( *tear*

She went as Wonder Woman :) totally wish I would have done a before and after picture of her costume, I transformed the hell out of it. I got it at goodwill for $2.99 but it was just a plain red onsie and blue skirt/cape. I took her out yesterday for a photo shoot and she was NOT cooperating. Between the huge pit bull walking by and the candy props, I couldn't get her to look at the camera to save my life.... Oh well, she is still a hellofa looker.

We went back inside and I put the candy bucket up and she got sooooo sad...

so I caved and gave her some.

Right when I thought her mind was off of the candy and we were back in the living room playing with toys, she snuck all the way back over and was trying to get some more!

it was cracking me up how she was standing on the very tip of her tippy toes to reach in the bucket! Oh the determination of this child, I swear sometimes...

I don't know why I love the next picture so much...she always loves to hide behind the curtain but this time it was like she was being sneaky with her candy hahaha!

ONTO HALLOWEEN NIGHT!

We had SO much fun passing out candy to the kiddos! Amelia actually got excited every time someone knocked on the door, so presh! Seeing all the kids costumes got my brain storming for next year...I am totally going to make her costumes!

I didn't feel like pulling out the decorations this year. With my garage jam-packed full of stuff from the remodel, I didn't have the energy....SO I settled for the pumpkins for our patch picking and a candle.

Travis went as Kevin Federline (I tried to tell him that was soooo 5 years ago). Don't let him fool you, he actually put some thought into this outfit. Some kid asked if he was a coloring book HAHAH!

Mommy went as a cat....I know, I know...veeeeeery original, but Amelia LOVED it!

uh...meow?

While the camera was out from last night, I decided to document our morning and just get some very candid photos because I hardly have any...

We got her some new kicks!!!

and she loves them!

Riiiiight after this Amelia got a horrible boo boo and we were both in tears. She hit the corner of the table the TV sits on RIGHT in the middle of the forehead....it is now a ginormous bruise :( it hurts my heart. What's worse is you really don't even realize you need to child proof something until something like this happens...

she forgave me once I gave her some snacks...

That's all for now! Hope you all had a wonderful and SAFE halloween. And I hate to put on my mommy pants but ladies...it's not that cool attractive to be a skank for halloween anymore...the jig is up.

Lovelove,
